Recreational opportunities are abundant with such highlights as Trophy Lakes, a man-made waterski facility with summer camps and daily lessons in a variety of waterspouts, as well as top-flight public and private golf courses, such as the 18-hole 7130-yard Briar’s Creek course designed by Rees Jones.

Second in size only to Long Island on the Atlantic Coast, Johns Island is ideally-situated to enjoy the benefits of coastal living within a more protected environmental setting, as well as offering access to one of the world’s most exciting cities, while retaining a countryside atmosphere. John Island is a sea island, which lies inland of barrier islands afford more protection but without losing the benefit of ocean breezes and access to surf and sand. The stunning golf resorts at Kaiwah and Seabrook islands are adjacent, only a stone’s throw across windswept estuary, and it’s easy to have dinner at one of Charleston’s five-star restaurants, then enjoy dessert at home on a moonlit porch overlooking expansive marshes swaying in the breeze.
